Other things to do in the Kuusisaari area

The Didrichsen Art Museum is also situated on Kuusisaari, just 400 meters from Villa Gyllenberg.

Other sights close by are e.g. the Seurasaari Open-Air-Museum, the studio of Alvar Aalto, Gallen-Kallela museum and Tamminiemi Villa.

The museums in the Laajalahti area have joined forces, and created a map, called "Seaside museums", with all the museums in the area. Buss, metro, tram and city bike stops are also visible, as well as some cafeterias and beaches. Sounds nice, doesn't it!

More information about the museums and the map here, and you can down load a pdf-version of the map here.

The map is also available in all the Seaside museums.

What is this Laajalahti? Well, Laajalahti is the name of the bay in which Kuusisaari is situated, and the museums concerned are Villa Gyllenberg, Didrichsen's, Seurasaari, Tamminiemi, Gallen Kallela museum and the home and studio of Alvar Aalto. Common denominators are nature, art, architecture and the sea. Fantastic places to visit, in other words, and often not so crowded as the sights in the center of Helsinki.

In Lehtisaari, just a short walk from Villa Gyllenberg, you'll find restaurant Old Jerusalem and also a small super market (Alepa). In Munkkiniemi you'll find plenty of coffee shops, e.g. café Torpanranta that's open every day of the week and all year round.
