How to get there

NB! The schedules for public transport changed on 3rd of January 2018. 
You'll get to Kuusisaari by changing to bus 551 or 552 in either Munkkiniemi or Aalto University (Otaniemi).

The bus stop closest to us i called Kuusisaarenkuja, and it's right next to the parking lot of Didrichsen Art Museum. Follow the street called Kuusisaarenpolku, you'll find us on the right at the end of the street.

You'll get to Munkkiniemi with buses 14, 18 and 39, or by the tram nr. 4. Change to bus 551 or 552 in Munkkiniemi. During the summer you can also take a city bike

You can also take the metro to Aalto University and hop on bus 551 or 552.

Feeling sporty, or just in the mood for some breathtaking sceneries? You can also arrive by bike or by foot following beautiful routes along the Helsinki coast lines, or you could even arrive by kayak! We don't have a dock, but it's possible to get ashore on the northern shore. Ask your accommodation or Helsinki Tourist Information more about ways of getting around in the city.   


Visitors can park their cars in the museum's parking lot or along Kuusisaarenpolku.

Groups and tours

Groups can visit the museum both during and outside the opening hours. 

You can book a private tour for your group by e-mailing villa(at) or by phoning 09-647390 (Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm). 

The price of a private tour is 70 € on weekdays and 100 € on week-ends.

The maximum amount of persons per group is 40 pax. We need another guide if the group includes more than 40 persons, which costs 50 €.

We will charge 50 € per extra hour if a group that visits the museum outside the opening hours wishes to stay more than 2 hours at the museum. 

Tours for school and student groups cost 40 €. The maximum amount of pupils aged 10-18 years is 30 pupils/group, and 15 pupils/group for children under 10 years.  

Café Signe

Villa Gyllenberg has a small cafe that is open during the museum's opening hours. 


The new side of the museum is accessible for everyone. The accessible entrance is by the counter, there's a lift in the gallery and there is also a wheelchair available. Our special exhibitions are usually on the new side of the museum. 

The old side of the museum is less accessible due to numerous steps and a staircase leading upstairs.

Other things to do in the Kuusisaari area

The Didrichsen Art Museum is also situated on Kuusisaari, just 400 meters from Villa Gyllenberg.

Other sights close by are e.g. the Seurasaari Open-Air-Museum, the studio of Alvar Aalto, Gallen-Kallela museum and Tamminiemi Villa

In Lehtisaari, just a short walk from Villa Gyllenberg, you'll find restaurant Old Jerusalem and also a small super market (Alepa). In Munkkiniemi you'll find plenty of coffee shops, e.g. café Torpanranta that's open every day of the week and all year round.
